Welcome to the Fedora Localization Project
This service is provided by Zanata, a web-based translator collaboration system for hosting document and software translation.
This service uses Fedora account, so if you do not have a Fedora account already, please go to Fedora Account System to apply for one. Zanata requires a working email to send activation email and other notice, so if your fedoraproject.org email does not work for you, use the one that works. See Help — Signing Up for detailed instructions.
Once you have Fedora account, you can use your Fedora user name and password to log in. Please make sure you join the mailing list to be kept informed of outages and other announcements.
To get started, join language teams (see Help — Join language team. You can click the language teams you want to join in tab languages, then sent the request to become a translator, and team coordinators and administrators will process your request. If you know more than two languages, you are welcome to join the those language teams. Once you are a translator of a language team, you can start contributing to a project. You can also find useful information at Translator Guide.
Developers and Writers
With Zanata you can open your project for translation without opening up the project’s version control. Zanata currently supports translation of software and documentation projects that provide GNU gettext format Portable Object (PO) files, Java Properties files, and a range of other formats. Project files can be pushed and pulled from the server using a command-line client or a Maven plugin. For detailed information on how to manage your projects on Zanata, please start with Help — Upload Documents.
Creating a Project
To create a translation project in Zanata for a project covered by the Fedora Project Contributor Agreement, please create an account in Fedora Account System, then follow instructions in Help — Project Creation.
You can find out more about the open source Zanata project (mailing lists, bug reports, source code) at Zanata.org. If you have any suggestions, please contact email@example.com.
